We are looking for a new member to join our team to help with the smooth running of our large dairy farm close to the beautiful Stone.
Previous experience and knowledge of dairy and agriculture is advantageous. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail to ensure animal welfare and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
About Us:
Located in Staffordshire, our family-run farm is home to 750 Holstein cows, supplying milk to a premium supermarket.
The Role:
As Herdsperson, you’ll work alongside our Dairy manager and a skilled team to ensure the health, welfare, and productivity of our herd. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Milking: Assisting with twice-daily milking, ensuring efficiency and high standards.
- Animal Health: Monitoring the health of cows, identifying issues promptly, and ensuring appropriate treatment.
- Parlour Hygiene: Ensuring the milking parlour is clean, organized, and running efficiently.
- Feeding and watering livestock
- Cleaning out pens and facilities
- Collecting food or animal products
- Providing fresh hay and straw
- Moving animals around the farm
- Tractor Work
- General day-to-day farm maintenance.
- Oversee Daily and weekly task management and workload planning
- Support our Farm Manager to prepare and deliver an operational plan
- Lead by example on implementing procedures and controls
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive experience of rearing beef animals and dairy replacements (breeding planning)
- Extensive experience of milking and herd care (including development of herd health plans)
- Full understanding of the required standards of livestock health and welfare
- Understanding of animal nutrition to include forage requirements
You:
- Have good humor
- Driving license.
- Proof of UK right to work
- Demonstrate previous experience in dairy farming
- Be enthusiastic, alert and able to utilise data effectively
- Show quality organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Have a positive working attitude and want to succeed
